I lived in Bermuda for 6 years while teaching Kindergarten-6th grade as a Reading Specialist. After returning home, I worked for major publishing companies such as Scholastic, Houghton Mifflin, Silver Burdett Ginn/Simon & Schuster and others, taking me to Ft. Lauderdale, Dallas, Millburn, NJ, and Madison, WI, to work directly for the owner of Pleasant Company/American Girl. As publishing companies downsized their editorial staffs, I saw the need to create a company in Nashville that would write textbooks, workbooks, and teacher's guides for the major publishers, as well as create outstanding marketing materials for their sales staffs to use. Our company was very successful but I still hadn't found "my place."

After visiting the Waynesville/Maggie Valley area, I began to travel here more frequently. I bought and sold land; I built a spec house. After a few years I had the epiphany--I had found "my place"—the mountains of Western North Carolina. Now I share my mountain home with my two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Finnegan and Peabody. I wouldn't want to live anyplace else.
